That pic is in big cog little chainring. Yes, the b-screw is riding on the edge of the hanger tab. I’ve never liked maxing out a b-screw anyways because it feels so delicate.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but one of the differences between these and newer derailleurs is a lack of a spring in the hanger pulley. These tend to ride on that b-screw setting all of the time, do they not.

Moving the axle back causes the chain to rub the frame in the small cog, but I could still add a washer to the axle, remove the adjuster screws, scoot the axle back, remove the double washer from the hanger bolt, back the b-screw off a bit, and see how that looks.

My head hurts. And I’ve got a perfectly good 14-28.
