Serial Numbers

Recently picked up an old Raleigh (?) racer that I was hoping to restore but needing to find identifying marks to figure out what it is/register for theft.

All I can seem to find are the badges, it then looks like the gears are custom to the bike (Sugino Proto Japan). Where are the usual spots for vintage Raleigh (possible Shimano)?

Have a look here, and see if you recognize anything: The Headbadge Raleigh Serials

Thanks for sharing, I was able to locate the serial under some dust!

It reads EC01554 so hopefully I can figure the model from that, but it could be either '80 or '81 according to the website.
