"Best Buys" in Bicycling magazine March 1992 Buyer's Guide issue were YOKOTA Yosemite Pro (mtb/front suspension), BRIDGESTONE RB-2 (road racing), CANNONDALE R700 (time trial/triathlon), SCHWINN Crisscross (hybrid), MIYATA 700 GT (touring), FISHER Tassajara (women's/small), BURLEY Rock 'n Roll, and EASY RACER Tour Easy (recumbent).

Interesting comparison for the Cannondale R700: I own a '93 R600, which was equipped with the same 105 gear and SRAM grip shifters, but with traditional drop bars and seat post. The first thing I did was replace the grip shifters (for the same reason the reviewer stated). Shifting was awkward and unreliable. Eventually mine ended up with 9 speed microShift components. It remains my most modern road bike.
