Yep, good plan and not an uncommon one.
I once got a Davidson Discovery free out of the dumpster because it had been crunched, but I liked it better with the steeper HTA and shorter front - center. Eventually (like over 10 years later) it cracked there, so I replaced the TT and DT, but I kept the "crashed" geometry, suits me better.
