Once we get to the bottom of the handlebar tape color dilemma, we'll need to brainstorm on the color of the striped cuffs....

Is this tiny one really your size?

How about a Celeste couch or loveseat to tide you over?

I didn’t think I would like the white tape that came on my orange bike, but I like it and even bought two new rolls to refresh it. Been riding it for almost two years and don’t want to change. You may find you like the maroon but if not you can always change it!

I like the maroon, as long as you leave it raw, ie. no shellac. That will turn it toward brown, which would be the wrong direction imho.

Just looking at it, it looks smaller than I remember. I was thinking my memory stored a 55cm but that looks more like a 53.

I have so many projects and some really interesting stuff I need to enjoy.

Besides, I have a Bottecchia on my wall I could build up.

i WILL keep an eye out for you though. We don’t get around here what other locales in Washington, Oregon, Cal, Mass, VA, PA, Chicago have available.

We have to hope that someone moves here with their bike and then wants to sell it.

You are 63-64 usually right?

Bikes: several Eddy Merz (ride like Eddy, braze like Jim!)

Maroon!!

After all, the history in the celeste color is that it was a paint color used on industrial machines, like the stamping machines that stamped out cowls for Vespa's, tractors and planes. It was cheap and plentiful paint.

Italian's pride in that color means that are prideful of saving money, (as a Jew, much respect).

Go for it. It's just bar tape. It's not like you're modifying the frame or doing something that cant be easily undone. I could see it looking pretty nice. Unless you're getting ready to sell it, the only opinion that matters is yours.

I'm wondering if there is a chart showing the color combinations most often used at different periods of time? For instance, when I think of the 1960's I see muted blues and greens, 1970's, brighter colors like red and orange.

branko,
There is a lot of information, but I know of no definitive work on color and fashion, there may be one.....maybe some designers on the forum can point you in the right direction.
However this may be helpful in your quest:

Bikes: Bianchi Pista Concept 05, Level 2014

Lots of directions work - I like black, brown grey and orange too - celeste handlebar wrap often is a different shade and clashes - impossible to judge from a pic online too....
