Reflex

A customers bike. I had not seen one beflore. A Reflex USA ALX 89. Looks very much like a Raleigh Technium but apparently wasn't made by Raleigh USA. Cool graphics that I didn't photograph. Lots of tiny geometric shapes on the seat tube and the back end of top tube. And in very good condition for its age. With the model name of ALX89 and the under chain stay u-brake (popular on mtbs in 1988/89) I say it's an 89 model year.

Reflex serial, looks like a Raleigh technium number.

They were made here in Salt Lake City, in an Easton facility. I had one just like that but was more red, with cantilevers on the seatstay and lovely straight bladed tapered unicrown forks. The seatpost was seized something fierce and the fork was misaligned, so I cut it into smaller pieces and took it to the tip. Mine was built with Shimano Mountain LX components and Araya RM-20 rims, so probably 1990? Got it to strip the parts off of, and am still using the wheels on another old beater MTB. Cool frames, and I think the Grisley frames were made in the same facility.

Here is a Raleigh Technium with a similar serial number.

Look familiar?
