Is this a Bianchi?

Interesting ebay XC frame. Seems a Bianchi, but not sure. Local to Sacramento if anyone is interested. My guess is a 1990 Equinox? If I was local I would buy it, but I am not, darn it. I am thinking it would be very negotiable. Only $60 ask.

Aftermarket riveted boss for a pump I guess?
Might be a candidate for gugificazione?

IDK, but what is that mount for half way down the DT on the 3rd pic?

It's for a shoulder carrying strap. The other mount is above the bottle bosses on the seat tube. One bicycle that used this feature was the Bianchi Volpe, which wass introduced as an "adventure" bicycle in the late 1980s. It was envisioned that the bicycle would be carried in some off-road situations, akin to a cyclo-cross bicycle. A circa 1990 Volpe would be my leading candiate. The serial number will tell us if it from one of Bianchi's Asian sources and the date of manufacture.

It seems to be an ‘88/‘89 model but the question is whether it is an ‘89 Equinox or a 88/89 Volpe. The Equinox had a Prestige frame and lots of Deore and 600 goodies.

Would the fork be a replacement (a unicrown seems right for 1990). Volpe was my first guess, but it doesn't seem to match up with the last picture decal remnant...that's why I wondered about the equinox? Is it possibly another market based on the paint (it seems original). Maybe Canadian? Japanese? Australian? markets?

My vote goes to ‘89 Equinox. Look at the remains of the letter next to the O, that has to be an X

Would the celeste frame/black fork-stays/gray head lugs have been a factory paint for our market?

The pic in T-Mar’s post is the ‘86 Volpe, first year introduced. By ‘88 the Volpe was sporting a Unicrown and in ‘89 all three models had Unicrowns.

This was offered Celeste only with blue decals wif the red line running through them. This looks like a home reppaint where someone tried to copy the Argentine scheme with chrome lugs.
