Cyclone on a Simplex drop-out...

Cyclone on a Simplex drop-out...
Is mounting a Suntour Cyclone MKII RD on a Simplex DO (older, non-threaded) just a matter of tapping the hole, or does a stop have to be ground into the DO as well?
*this is a not an 'important', sought-after or collectible frame, and I don't care about modifying it- though if it does require grinding a stop I may just slap a claw on instead.

Grinding would be required. I have a frame with a brazed-on stop at 7:00, but it still had to be ground from the 7:00 to 9:00 positions. My TdF was tapped and ground long ago, no brazing.

It is too bad that the photos are not in the post below, since Rootboy had nice photos of a custom made adapter.

I bought an adapter and derailleur from Rootboy several years ago and I might end up mounting it on my purple Gitane TdF. If so, I will try to remember to take photos.

You mean "aren't" in rootboy's thread. That is a real shame; I remember this, and had a notion to copy them, but ultimately didn't. Has anyone tried to resuscitate them using the Wayback Machine? Does that not work if they were stored on another site?
I wonder if I should try measuring it. I do have access to cmm's and laser scanners, though I don't know what I would do with those measurement results. I certainly don't want someone else making money off of his ideas.
