Just for kicks, I removed it completely. It did nothing. Campy doesn’t engineer just for kicks.

thanks.

I think so -- it looks like part 2036, which goes into the recessed area of 2034, according to this diagram: https://www.yellowjersey.org/CABRCLSS.JPG

Ok
grub screw

but, I would think I could remove the lever from the housing by removing it

i got no movement at all from the removal.

(I have one very clean, and one with Panto and drillium Which unfortunately sat in a housing that somebody built-up with shoe goo after the hood disintegrated.)

That grub screw is important! It holds the lever pivot in place and keeps the lever from falling apart during a ride. It can be replicated as I do here using a stainless screw to be sure it won't corrode in place. I also have purchased a special order of the nylon ledge washers for the levers as they pivot around the pivot pin. As the washers wear they allow for some play in the levers in a left to right movement and will eventually wear through. If you need some help contact me by PM as I do have some repair parts here. Smiles, MH

Yes, a grub screw to hold the pivot pin in place. Loosen it, and you should be able to push the pin out of the lever body to remove the lever blade.
