Identifying Miyata year + recommendations

Hello,
It's my first post here. I bought my very first road bike which is Miyata TMR 1000. I can't find in which year it is produced(can you help me with getting info about production year?)
Also, I want to hear your ideas about this bike and it parts. I have to change tires, currently it's on Panaracer Practice 270 (any recomendations for new ones?)

Model: Miyata TMR 1000 White with gold decals
Gears/brakes: Shimano 600 SIS
Brake handles: Shimano 105

Also it got few stickers which I would like to learn more
TA-BO Pedal Pusher's Club
Triple BUTTED cr-mo

As I said it's my first ever road bike, I would like to more about road bikes, upgrades etc. Fill free to share your knowledge

I can't upload picture...

Bikes: ‘87 Marinoni SLX Sports Tourer, ‘79 Miyata 912 by Gugificazione

This should help:

Asian Serial Number Guide

That model name isn’t familiar to me. Perusing the catalogs over the years will also help you:

https://www.ragandbone.ca/Miyata/miyata_selector.html

Are your tires 27” or 700C? What’s your budget for tires?

Thanks for Serial Number Guide, I will check serial number tommorow, hope that helps.

I can't tell which tire is mine, only marking I found was "Panaracer Practice 270", I look for tires perfect fit for city riding, if it will be softer ride then curent one that would be great.

Bikes: Raleigh Classic 15, 84; Miyata 912, 85; Miyata Ridge Runner SE, 85; Miyata 610, 86; Miyata 100M, 86; Miyata Valley Runner, 88; Miyata Triple Cross, 89; GT Karakoram, 90; Miyata Elevation 300, 91; Marinoni Touring, 95; Long Haul Trucker, 2013

If the tubing sticker doesn't say "splined triple butted" I thinks it's pre 1986. I can't seem to find that colour scheme.
Look for the serial number.

Where are you located?

Is this perhaps a bike produced for the domestic Japanese market? That's the only TMR1000 I find when I google it. If that's the one, I don't have any info, and the catalogues referred to won't list it.

The tires you list seem to be tubular tires—are they glued on?

I'm pretty new here too so when I wanted to add pix to one of the threads I created as a newbie, I uploaded it to my profile's 'album' and another member posted the pixs - quickly learned thats the way to get around the 10 post minimum.

Can you find any numbers on the rims? Or, can you carefully examine the tires again to see if any markings are molded into the rubber?

If your wheels are tubular, as I think they are, your tire choices may be limited. Others may disagree, but you might want to change wheels if that is the case.

CO Hoya thank you for image, that's my bike. I also added album to my profile for more pics.
.
John I can't find any numbers/lettering neither on the rim, nor on the tire. Only marking I found is Panasonic Panaracer Practice 270 and Made in Thailand.
My wheels are definitly tubular. Need new tires asap, but can't order them because of unknow size + I would like to run little bit higher sidewall if possible, for better ride quality in streets.

Also, I looked for serial number today. It is Y2005253. After some research into serial number threads I figured out that Y stands for 1996 model? Am I right? If not please correct me. Because I couldn't find this model in 1996 catalog...

P.S I am limited to 5 posts per day, that's why I respond very late. So sorry for that and thank you for your responses.

I'm a bit puzzled. My info says Y indicates 1996, but this doesn't look to be from that era. The tubing sticker looks like one from the mid '80s.

You can measure the rim to get your tire size. Google for other methods.

based on the pic really only one size for tubular 700c/28" (yes there are junior size tubulars but this bike is not that)

OP does not need to get the exact same tire. OP location would help

See this thread for everything tubular Totally Tubular

Assuming mid level tires, some tires are vittoria rally, continental giro and sprinter, challenge elite but location makes a big difference in what you can find and prices. UK bikes shop sites are a good source for the US

the bike itself does not look like any imported to US under Miyata USA

I expect the bike to be around a 1985 or a little later as 1) triple butted came out in 1985 in US (my 84 team is double butted, by 85 team is triple butted) but by 1989 at least the spline triple butted was in place so the Y for 1986 would make sense and 2) brake cable guides on top tub and 3) components, but mismatch could indicate replacements.....US Miyata were consistent in all components being at same group level

Gorgeous bike. Love those colours.
Before you source replacement tires I suggest you try to service the hubs and true the wheels if they're out. Maybe the latter is a job for a shop, but ask their opinion about condition, spokes, brake track etc.
Don't stay with tubs and buy new tires if the wheels for them are on the way out.

Wow, I got so many responses and usefull information. Thanks everyone ^^
squirtdad thanks for the links and information. I am from Georgia, Country. Only place I can get tire is to ship from USA or UK.
John much appreciate ^^
CO Hoya once again thanks for images.
Soody Thanks! I fell in love with first sight, because of this gorgeus color scheme. I will take that mind and let the bike shop check wheel conditions.
garryg Thanks!

I guess my bike is more like 1986 then 1996. I will check the wheel and then I'm going to find tires for it. I looked through links shared by squirtdad, those tires are awesome, but I preffer some retro design ones. With white sidewall or something. Keep it clean and retro is my moto for this bike. (P.S I don't have much of tire choice in tubular tire, so either way I will go for any design 700x25c, or change the wheels to clincher wheels. I have to do some research first)

Also, It has Concor S. Marco Supercorsa Saddle what can you say about that?

Being a Japanese market model complicates matters somewhat, as features can vary due to market preference. Most indicators are placing it circa 1986, with replacement Shimano New 105 brake levers (a common upgrade for the aero cable routing). Given the apparent age, it should be Miyata manufacture. However, I've never seen a Miyata serial number with one alpha character and seven numerals. I would have expected two alpha characters and five numerals. Did you check areas other than the BB shell? Sometimes manufacturers have serial number locations that are market specific. I've seen Japanese market Miyata from the mid-1980s with serial numbers located on the upper head lug/head tube.

Some Miyata frames are very narrow and fussy about tire size. Be sure you tire/rim selection will fit.

TBH, I didn't. I didn't expect serial number anywhere else, that's why. But I will give it a another try and carefully check other areas.

squirtdad thanks a lot.

I will definitly take that in mind.

I have little update regarding to tires.
I found good condition tires at local bike track, got the glue and I'm gonna install them when I get spare time. Since, my tires was completely useless, this will be temporary fix for them. For the future I'm going to convert wheels to clincher. That will give wider choice of tire, easier fix for flat tire etc...

So I checked serial one more time and surprise, I didn't see one letter....
So it is PY20052 not Y20052
