I ALMOST made it.........
I almost made it without buying another bike this year but this popped up on FB........

Paint's rough and the color.......
....... BUT it's straight and in my size range. I'd been watching for a '72 or older Super Course for a long time but only a very few ever came up for sale locally and I always JUST missed them. As soon as I saw this I jumped on the keyboard and I was able to make a deal on it. It's not a Super Course and I paid dearly for it but it will "do". It's a patina laden 1972 Competition, supposedly the original owner (I'm #3) rode it on the first RAGBRAI in 1973.
Actually the color is starting to grow on me......

NO MORE bikes this year, I promise!
I've scratched the Super Course off the wanted list, in fact I have scratched all bikes from the wanted list, it now consists only of parts for what I already have.
OK, the color doesn't seem quite so hideous now, definitely better than my '87 Technium 480! I may repaint it in it's original colors after all, we'll see when the time comes........

The purple Competitions were never cataloged. While not unobtanium, they are definitely something special and have a bit of flamboyant 1950's club bike vibe.
Embrace the oddity! Perhaps you can find a pair of light blue Bluemels to complement the contrasting panels.
