Vintage Craptacular. Or the "This should be scrapped" Thread

This isn't even the ugliest thing I've found hidden on this bike. But I just keep piddling around with it. What total crap have you uncovered while working on an old bike but just kept going?

This wheel is 68 years old and somehow I think the rim tape may be older.

Carbon dating may be in order.

The tubular tires on my FW Evans. The back one actually held air for a little while. I thought this would be an excuse to dive into tubulars, but the rim was also severely pitted.

This 1970s Marukin looked like it had the original tires. I aired them up and they held for several days. However, when I tried to ride it, the wheels felt like they were made of lead. Upon disassembly, they had thick thornproof tubes, the kind that hold their shape, even when deflated.
