PSA - Jack Brown green label 700c x 33.333 for $33.30
Got these from Blue Lug in Japan. Rivendell has been out of the green label version of these for awhile. It's lighter than the blue label that has a thicker casing, kevlar protection, but doesn't roll as nice.
I have these on a couple of bikes, as far as I can tll they're the same casing and tread thickness as the much more expensive tires from Compass Cycles. it's right between 32 and 35mm tires. I've found that on some of my bikes I can ride with fenders and 32's, or 35's and no fenders, but 33.333 I can ride with fenders. On a couple of my bikes 33.333 is the widest I can go, and the ride is closer to 35 than 32, IMHO.
$33.30 per tire. $42 to ship so I got 4 to amoritze the shipping. They've got a huge selection of other tires that look like good pricing. 4 days to ship from Japan!
Tires seem to be much less expensive than stateside, time to stock up!

Well, they might be tubeless compatible, they may not. They're really the same tire series as the Rene Herse models, fitting right between the 32 and 35mm offerings, but no tubeless claims are made with this particular tire.
Do check their pricing on other tires, overall they seem to be very competitive.

I've worn through 2 sets of them, as durable as the Rene Herse offerings, which they appear to share the casing material with. By durable, I assume you mean puncture resistant. I've found that, generally speaking, the better the ride, the less puncture resistance they are.

These non-kevlar tyres weigh 320g as per the Rivendell website. How do they compare to the Soma Supple Vittesse EX (which _has_ the kevlar bead)? The Soma EX tyres in 33c weigh only 290g as per the Soma website.

Just to clarify— I have a set of the Somas and they give a very smooth ride indeed. Was in the market to stock up again and your timely post popped up. Jack browns get lots of mentions so wanted to see if anyone had direct experience with the comparison.

Supple tires can be found in many brands. The thing I like about the Jack Browns is the ability to run them with fenders on bikes that can't take 35's and fenders. I also had a couple of "fast" road bikes that 33.333's are the fattest that will fit.

With shipping, and exchange rate yesterday, I had 4 of these for about $84 total in cart. Shipping appears to be flat rate, probably up to a certain threshold so if you combine with some friends, you can drive down the price even more.
Still, a little over $20 a tire seems like a great deal to me. YMMV.

Thanks for all these tips! Went ahead and pulled the trigger from PlanetX on the Jack Browns for the same reason @gugie mentions - I have 35s with fenders on my Mk I and there's hardly any room for error.
FWIW they are also selling silver Tektro 539s for 19.99 GBP. Doesn't say but looks like the nutted version.
