Unknown bike / frame

A friend of mine has picked up an old racing bike rather very poor condition, & was wondering if it was worth restoring, I've had a quick look its a bit of a mess.
The serial number on the underside of the BB is 294119
It has forged drop outs.
Interesting the seat tube, & the down tube become oval once they leave the lugs. The lug styles are the same I've seen on Fuji, but its not.
The brakes are Shimano BR-A500 dated NK so that's 1989 November, so one assumes the bike to be aprox 1990, Its not easy to confirm how much other is original equipment
Obviously down tube gearchange.

Any pointers appreciated, I'll try & remember take photos, & how to post photos next time I go round.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

No pictures? That makes it difficult…

Bikes: One of everything and three of everything French

I don't recognize the SN format. The squashed tubing indicates an "aero" design. Try searching here for pics of aero frames and compare with the subject bike.
