Wild Sighting

Well, it wasn't wild, but it was in the wild. On the way to work this morning I was following behind a vehicle with a bike rack on the rear and securely fastened to it was a USA Raleigh road bike. In my area this is a rare sighting. I live near a couple of nice trails, so MTBs are probably 90% of what I see on passing vehicles. And the remainder are usually fairly high end road bikes. Very seldom do I see anything that could be classified as C&V.

It made me smile! And while I couldn't get too close, I got close enough to discern it appeared to be all original and in extremely nice shape. Again, made me smile.

They don't know it, but they got my day off to a good start.

Edit: I should have been more specific. It appeared to be a 1985 Raleigh USA Racing Competiion. It was white with chrome fork and rear triangle, just superb.

There aren't many cyclists around me at all, much less vintage riders. Old bikes around here are typically beat up old clunkers. I get the same smile as you on the very rare occasion I see a decent condition vintage bike.
