Trek 500 back in action…

About 20 years ago, I lent my purple Trek 500 to a buddy who was riding a 55 cm frame. He’s lanky and 6’2”, and the Trek was a better fit. It was always a little big for me.

By the mid 2000s he had quit riding and was busy raising his family. A few years back, he mentioned that he had given the bike to his nephew to take to collage. I assumed it was gone forever.

His kids are now in their early 20s and today he texted me saying he had rode 5 miles in 20 minutes. He attached a pic. Good too see it on the road again!

I told him to check the stem insertion

I always liked the ride of this one - very comfy and stable.

Did a lot of light touring on it at the end of the last century. Had it set up with a triple BITD.
