Nono, I made the setup like that, so Edge is mostly for work, FFox is everything but work. I just brought it up, that different cookie settings (or an already denied offer from the site if you allows it to place them) might greatly affect the user experience.
Regarding removable media, earlier I pretty much abused the corp pc. But a few years ago when one of the global ransomware attacks happened everywhere and we didn't lose a single machine while being in every country, I realized, how bad that would be if it was my PC which let it in in a global network.

A Chromecast will get you a large screen for your phone and you could pair a bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo

Wow. These are a lot of workarounds for basic forum functionality that is unreliable. Has whoever maintains the code also been quietly kicked off? I’ve also found that the auto saves won’t load for me after I’ve been quietly kicked off while writing a reply. So I’m copying this one as usual on the strong likelihood that I’ll have to try twice to post it. Also, by the way, copying this and then switching to another application to save it almost guarantees I’ll have been kicked off when I return to try my luck. [By the way, I was quietly kicked off while writing this,]

I feel the OP's pain. Exactly the same thing happened to me and I went away in a huff for about a year after leaving a flaming "WTF?" thread, burning a few bridges in the process.
When I got over my bad self and started easing back in, I made sure to click "remember me." This has kept me logged in in for I don't know how long and has eliminated the problem. So I will join the "remember me" chorus.

On my PC (Firefox), it has been a couple of months since I've logged in. Every once in a while something, perhaps an update wipes out all my cookies which is a bit of a pain, but relatively rare, usually occurring after a reboot or closing Firefox.
Same thing is true with Chrome on my cell phone. Rarely log in. It really doesn't like the politics forum under Chrome, and so I usually discover quickly if I find myself not logged in.
My biggest issue is some kind of a timeout, usually in Firefox. Sometimes with a post I'll start at night, fall asleep, and finish in the morning. Usually carefully hitting the back button, then copying to the clipboard and refreshing, I can recover without losing data. I don't remember if that has also occurred under Chrome, but I presume it can occur. I would still be logged in.
