Austro Daimler Vent Noir Mixte - My most standout acquisition so far

Thanks to @SoCaled on the e Bay / CraigsList finds - "Are you looking for one of these!?" Part II, I was able to purchase this AD Vent Noir Mixte. The seller had the ad up for about 17 hours before i picked it up. A good portion of that 17 hours may be while everyone was asleep. Took me over 2 hours (aller/retour) to get that in my possession. I was quite pleased to know all the original parts are kept together with the bike and the replacement parts are of high quality too. I took it to the Velo Retro ride in Pasadena on Sunday. Well, it was a slug (I think the tires have a lot to do with it) but comfortable ride. The front axle was loose which i need to tighten shortly. It had a front end shake at speed.... The matte black paint is pretty slick and robust. It is a MB paint job. Below are photos of the bike and original parts. One of the riders at the Velo Retro said, this bike was sold by Sears BITD, can anyone verify that?

Side note, I like the mixte bikes particularly this one but i don't think the guys at the velo retro wouldn't be caught dead riding one.....

Thanks for looking.

Dura Ace Center Pull brake - didn't now they existed until now

Clean BB or robust paint

Original parts

The drilled dimples are on the outside of the rings - Nice touch Shimano

Sears sold Free Spirit bikes made by Puch (at least some were..), who also made the A-D bikes, but I don’t think Sears ever sold A-Ds…

Glad you were able to grab this, I was just scanning the Pasadena retro ride thread to see if you had posted pics. Can't wait to see how you dial it in.

Not much dialing is needed other than the loose front axle, lose seat clamp. Other than that, the PO did a fantastic job upgrading and tuning the bike. It shifts smooth and the bike rides very quietly. I replaced the city bike pedals MKS 3000R with Shimano SPD and saved may be 200grms.

Thanks again @SoCaled

back in the day, that was a sexy bike! The black anodized bits (especially the chainrings!) with the flat black paint were so cool!
Not sure how it looked after a few thousand miles, but the advertisements sure got the juices flowing.
Those early Dura-Ace parts were quite nice regardless.

Of course -- it's Austrian, even though from Graz instead of Vienna (home of Capo).

Very cool.

The loose axle may be the cause of the shimmy.

Could also be from being a mixte, some women's Paramount's are pretty noodly too.
