1984 Trek 1400
Funny how things work out. Had my 1976 Ciscato that I bought in Italy stolen and found a beautiful perfect condition 1984 Trek 1400 for $10.
Im 65 and want to get competitive. I believe in this old bike. Like I believe in my old heart. Do we have any young or old Trek lovers? I could use some encouragement as I am putting in three hours a day. With my 99 HARO Extreme I went with a big frame but I know in competition smaller is better. My first post in this or any forum please humor me and either comment on my age and desire to compete or let me know what you all think of the 84-1400 all original except seat . Snowflake AZ

Welcome aboard. Add pictures of your Trek in your album. We can assist with posting them until you have reached 10 posts (5 per day max, until post 11).
I'm 65 also, so I ask the question: "Who do you need to compete against?" Certainly not us. Just enjoy your bike and share your stories here. We will revel in your vintage escapades and enjoy your pictures.
For instance, I recently installed new Clement tubulars on my Schwinn 974 and was pleased to notice the name of this street for the first time. I just had to stop and take a picture.

We can't wait to see pictures of your Trek. I briefly had a 1200 two sizes too small but I thought is was a smooth rider. For racing, you will want at least indexed 7 speed Shimano but after you get in shape

Right now it sports the Shimano RX100 equipment. I can feel the original owners love for this awesome bike. It is soo well preserved..I can tell this bike has been raced by the equipment he had installed. Everything is extremely well preserved except his wraps which are WELL worn. I read that you all can help me post pics until I post ten times, that shouldn't take too long

Are you sure it's a 1984 and/or sure it's a 1400?
I don't see a 1400 in the 1984 catalog.
In any case- it should be a great "go fast" bike.

Atmangene at the top of this page (above the poll results) on the right-hand side, you should spot your username. Click on your name and it will open a menu. At the top is "User Control Panel," click on it to open the page. One left-hand side of the page you will see an extensive list of various things you can do, grouped in subheadings.
The second section is "Networking." The third item in this list is "Pictures & Albums." Click on it and this will take you to "My Pictures" (which will be empty). To the left of "My Pictures" there should be five grey buttons, "Recent, Popular, etc.," click on one of these buttons.
You should now see just below the grey buttons, "Share your pictures with Our Community. Upload Now."
Hope this is helpful. Let us know if you need further guidance. Post once to say, "thank you." Post a second time and ask for bicycle photo tips. Etc.

Well, at least you have surpassed the 10 post threshold!
Now you can add pictures on your own. I have added pictures to C&V while using my phone, but only a few times. Try touching the picture icon in the edit section (mountains in a rectangle with the sun or moon over the smaller peak).
Posting from a phone is quite different from a PC. I'm describing what I see on my Windows 10 laptop using Microsoft Edge browser. I also use Edge on my Android phone, but Edge on the phone is not the same as Edge on my laptop, and there are times when I stumble through using Edge on the phone.

Atmangene until you re-log into BF, I'll help with one of the pictures you sent to me in PM. Which has me scratching my head
because I'd assume you have to be logged in to send a PM.
In any event here's the full-on drive-side view of your 'not' 1984
Trek 1400!

BTW, kudos for a well-executed and composed drive-side bicycle picture! You are well on your way to becoming a real pro--- C&Ver!
P.S. for the Trek Experts: Here's a pic of the BB serial number. Hopefully someone can nail a definitive manufacturing date.

I don't believe he's trying to scam anyone. Just challenged by trying to navigate BF on a phone's web browser.
