new arrival, 1999 cannondale caad4 back up frame

Good Morning

Sometimes you don't think twice, as I haven't seen till yet the completed repair of the Daccordi frame and how it has been repainted, I decided to purchase a back up frame , my choice oriented itself very easily on a Cannondale CAAD4 made in the USA at very good price from a german seller where I have bought ton of stuff before. I didn't choose flamboyant colors like the saeco or anything flashy, I haven't gone with CAAD7-CAAD8 optimo route which would be above my budget due to import customs and duties and who are mostly for sale outside Europe especially in the UK and in the USA. I baught a 1999 grey colored model in almost new condition.

I already have an Alcoa custom road frame a trek 2300SLR, an Altec Or Daccordi Fly road frame, an Altec 2 Veneto Art Decor Frame as projects, the CAAD4 made of Alcalyte was one of the best aluminium frame of its time. If it ever becomes a project (none never knows), it will naturaly become a fully dura ace 7800 equipped bike with zipp 808 or 404 wheels ,with a fsa or a duraace crank with conti 4 seasons .

Have a nice

Very best regards and stay safe

Georges

Although I never wanted a US bike other than maybe a GT MTB, and never ever a yellow bike either, I ended up having a CAAD4 in yellow and I really like it. Yours is really in great shape, unfortunately mine has 95% perfect paint but the rest is blistering. Good catch!

Thank you. With import and custom duties I would have been in a budget of 950€-1100€ which would have been too high. As for US made MTBs, I already have two US made Treks one 1999 made 6700SLR, one 2006 made 6500SLR and one 1995 Gary Fisher Hookoo Ekoo in True Temper Optibutted steel. I was at one moment planning to buy a GT Zaskar Team but the Easton Elite Taperwall tubing being prone to cracking as it was the case on Kona, Lapierre, Scott and other MTB big brands using Easton aluminium tubing, made it a no for me which is why I sticked with Trek Aluminium Alpha SLR (an Alcoa Alumnium tubing especially made for Trek ) much more bulletproof than the Easton 6061 and the Easton Scandium. Most of the aluminium roadbike frames my bike tech saw aging bad or being broken were made of Dedacciai SC6110A , Easton Scandium,Easton Elite, and the Altec 2+.No such failures happened with Altec, Altec Or, Altec 2, Airplane, Starship, Reynolds 6061, Reynolds 7005, Oria 7020, Dedacciai 7003, Alcoa Alcalyte and Alcoa CU92 aluminium tubings.
