Do old Stronglight chainrings have "pointed" teeth?

Do old Stronglight chainrings have "pointed" teeth?
I have a couple Stronglight cranksets that have much "sharper points" on the chainring teeth than other brands of chainrings I've seen unless their obviously worn out. Yesterday I brought home a supposedly low mileage Motobecane Grand Touring with a Stronglight crankset, and it has the same pointed teeth. So I'm wondering if this is how they are originaly cut? Or have I just never seen an unworn one?

Yes. Stronglight, TA, and some other rings manufactured in the 70s and earlier often came with pointed teeth.

That big ring does show quite a bit of shifting and or cross chain wear.

The chain doesn't show much wear with a gauge and doesn't "lift" much more than a new chain on Sugino ring with about 1000 miles on it. The chain could be original. The bike got new tires "recently" that still have the hairs, but there's no indication of any further maintenance. I picked up the correct crank puller so I'll have to have a Stronglight party and directly compare the rings I have.

Interesting how things are not consistent. I have a steel ring that was just the opposite and had no points and the tops seemed wider than normal. Mine works fine.

As others have said, the older Stronglight rings did have pointed teeth. Not sure when the changeover to less-pointed teeth happened. I have never noticed any functional difference between the two styles.

I always thought amusing that the final workaround to the puncture test was test the bike with the chain in the big ring.

This is the Stronglight 93 on my Raleigh Gran Sport, back when I still owned it in the early 80's....

...I have no idea when they started rounding them off. But some of the ones I've had are pretty pointy.
