need fix for broken derailleur hanger

I am fixing up an old Diamond Back Ascent and found that the nib on the deraillleur hanger had broken off The previous owner haf drilled a hole in the hanger and mounted a removable claw. I want to use the hanger but need to find a way to replace that little nib on the forged dropout. so far my only thought is to fabricate a sleave from sheet metal that somehow includes a little ledge for the B screw to bump against. Has anyone addressed this issue before. I don't want to get into brazing.

Drill and tap a wee hole, and set a cheese-head screw in there with some threadlocker.
