Vintage Bianchi year identification

Hello. My friend is restoring a bianchi (the model seems to be zaffiro but I'm not sure, the aesthetics recalls that model but I'm not 100% sure).
he found this serial 255840 , can we identify the year?
Also I will add photos soon

Something like this? I'd say maybe '50s or '60s?

Bikes: 87 Bianchi X4, 95 Bianchi Ti Mega Tube, 06 Alan Carbon Cross X33, 74 Galmozzi Super Competizione, 64 Bianchi Specialissima.

Serial number puts it in mid 50's according to RSC.

Thanks, but what do you mean? More like June 1950 or near 1955?

RSC is nice but still a niche website and not recognized as international.... plus to see some bikes you must be a member, c'mon bikes must be shared for free!!!

I looked at RSC. Could be 1956, could be 1983.

Pictures from the OP would be helpful.

We need a picture. Integrated headset 50's, non integrated 80's.

I lean more towards the 80s than the 50s. Fine looking bike.

Bikes: You had me at rusty and Italian!!

I have one of these bikes and mine is from the ‘50s. As has been noted, they made this machine into the ‘80s with only minor changes kind of like 26” ballon tire cruisers here in the states. iab is very knowledgeable about this stuff so his input has merit.

The only thing I’m not sure about is the clamp style nut on the headset. I would have thought that went away in the….’70s(?) but that is speculation on my part.

No matter, beautiful bike in fabulous condition. I look forward to more pics.
