I worked at a Peugeot/Nishiki dealership 1972-74. Olympics of that general era had plain gauge carbon steel frames. Kokusai/Internationals had plain gauge Ishiwata CrMo tubing, and Semi-Pros/Competitions had double-butted CrMo main tubes.

Look forward to seeing how it rides after it’s built up. Of course wheel choice, bars, fit will all be factors. Actually straight gauge carbon I haven’t ridden in a long time so it will be interesting to see how it rides. I’ve read positive reviews even in this thread. Truth is its more about getting the old rides back out in the sunlight.
So post paint weight comes in at 5.8 lbs frame only. 8 lbs frame and fork.

I have a hi-ten bike with 8.0 lb f+f. With supple tires mine rides beautifully. The weight makes it feel more stable on speedy descents than some lighter bikes.
very nice re-paint. Hope you are satisfied with the ride to justify the work.

You will probably not find decals for your Nishiki. Velocals had them, but they are no longer in business. I made my own for my 72 Professional. Here are the PDF files to get you close to your decal needs.

I did wet sand with 1000 before shooting second color coat. It’s ready for clear but before that I’m going to get some decals etc.
if it is a 1975 Olympic (and I Dont know what the model name is for sure), what type tubing is it most likely made from. I’d like to order a tubing decal with some others.
And I have decided to go with shimano 600 full group with either 6 or 7 rear. But I do have one question for the experts out there. I’d like to run a vintage looking tapered crank and rings. Will they work ok with early 600 shimano derailleurs?
Thanks
Joel

Went custom on the main down tube decal.
Had it made for about $12 online came in a week. I picked the size and font. Could have been a quarter inch smaller. Thin vinyl will be easy to clear coat. Stoked with result!
