All-time favorite pedal - Sheffield Super - preWWII the spikes on the end were road pedals, pista pedals were without. Post WWII, Supers were only pista and only with spikes. These are reproductions. After looking for 5 years, i have yet to find a "real" set to buy.

Every pair of pedals similar to those that I have owned in the past I've had to take a file to in order to maintain the grip. Eventually, they were filed down to the point of no return. Today I much prefer the CNC machined alloys with replaceable screws. Maybe I'm just hard on pedals, but yeah, I look at pedals online all the time even though I have no current need for more LOL.

Barelli are my favorites. Though SunTour Superbe track ones are beautifully sculpted.

Pedals are the shizzle. We throw ourselves into the ride through them. Rugged and elegant.

Nothing special but one of my very favorites, plain old chrome Campy.





And my oldest, very rough still sound and fully functional ones off the 48-9 Paramount.

MKS, tough as nails, one of very best values in all of cycling for a very long time and also one of my favorites.

The French Lyotard quill pedals also look very nice they have pedal cage cutouts that look quite elegant in a French way.
I got a pair for my PH10 bike, when I first tried out toe clips and straps in the early 80's
bearing and race quality are not that great though, which seems to just be typical of most cheaper and mid priced, older French pedals....

Of French, the Atom 700 are very nice as well.

I got a great deal on a pair on eBay (seller didn't know what they had and sold them for normal Pista price). I had no use for them, so flipped for a nice profit. I kinda wish I hadn't. (Of course I also wish I still had my '55 Speedster, but you know, wrong forum...)

My favorite are the Specialized Touring Pedals. I have them on two or three bikes. Here on my Turin-branded Eisentraut Limited (must have been before the first ride, hence no toe clips):

This is a Velobase picture, but I had these Lyotard Berthet pedals on an old Ross that I gave to my brother decades ago. Those were great pedals. I had Christophe clips and straps on them.

I don't own any, but really like the pre-WWII Webb and Chater Lea pedals.
Regarding those I own and ride, I've recently taken a fancy to my new-to-me (NOS also) Lyotard Berthets.
For getting into and out of the toe clips, the Barelli Supremes are supreme.
And just to rep the mountain bike scene, the Shimano XT M730 are possibly the greatest all-round pedal ever made, in my opinion.

I picked up these TAs in '22 still unboxed. Great pedals, had these on the Hetchins for a while until I picked up a set of Chater Leas so for the moment these are back In the box waiting for their next assignment.

I got some Lyotard 45CA on a new Holdsworth Avanti in 1983

and thought they were great.
Got another 1982 Avanti a couple of years back with original pedals,

Then I restored a 1961 Holdsworth Cyclone and fitted "Chrome plated continental racing pattern" pedals (Holdsworth 1961 catalogue)

Neat! I hadn't heard of the MKS "Unique" pedal before.. or at least I don't remember it.
I've got a number of sets of their Sylvan pedals, which are low cost copies of the Campy Record pedals that so many of our favorite bikes came with. The Sylvans aren't of the same quality, but are "good enough" for general use.
MKS has built, and continues to build, some excellent pedals. My favorites are probably the sealed bearing Superbes that they built under the SunTour name. Beautiful and very reliable!

may years ago was speaking with a collector and commented anent the irony of Sheffield pedals being manufactured in "the boot" whilst Barellis issue from Avalonia

he guffawed and could not imagine the correctness of this statement, considering me absolutely bonkers (well that's a given of course)

Suspected might be Lyotard, as they came with my Moto Grand Jubile Mixte. They were not original to the bike, those would have been Atoms.

one french pedal producer seldom mentioned on the forum is Eclair - have never seen a pedal of this calibre from them - everything of stamped and crimped steel sheet
