1988 Schwinn Le Tour seat post

Ive got an 88 le tour and the seat post that came out was a 26.6 (sr). Ive got a nice zero set 26.4 and i can feel that tiny bit of slop in it before tightening it down. I might be ok tightening it as there is a pretty good gap on the clamp yet but it should probably have a shim. Do the make a shim to take up that little of slack or is it beer can time?

FWIW - my last attempt with a can shim was a fail. The surface of the can was too smooth and no amount of tightening or roughing up the can surface achieved the goal. I spent $20 on a Kalloy post and called it good.

I would not shim, I would use the right size post. I have heard that shim does work, never had for me.

I've had good luck with shims, it's free to try and won't hurt anything.
