Legnano Paint Color Code

There's a few threads that address repaint Legnano's in their original "Lizard yellow". In the threads I found, either it's a Moto-guzi color (that didn't have a RAL paint code), or a series of automotive grade paints to get to have it professionally shot.

I just had a '63 Legnano wander into my garage with a horrible repaint. Someday I may choose to get it professionally repainted (most likely at Velocolour since the Legnano's I've seen out of there are phenomenal), but for now I was looking to "rattle can" it with as close as I can get to the "correct" color.

Has anyone come up with a brand and name of a rattle can paint or RAL code on the Legnano lizard green?

Bikes: You had me at rusty and Italian!!

I love the lizard green/yellow but not all Legnanos were painted that color. I have one that is “regular” green with the box striping and correct decals in place so VERY unlikely a respray.

A friend of mine is a Moto Guzzi nut and they employed layered methods like Legnanos on their older bikes for the color. There were some modernish Guzzis with a similar color that may have been a single layer application but I don’t have any knowledge of this.

Bikes: Drysdale/Gitane/Zeus/Masi/Falcon/Palo Alto/Vitus

I used what is listed in post #13 of this topic: LEGNANO ; I sent a photo of the completed bike to the guy with that condorino.com website about Legnanos and he complimented the color match of the results. YMMV!

Back when young, we referred to the color as "metallic snot".

I agree, your Legnano turned out great. If I was going to get a local auto painter to paint it, I would use the same paint you found.

The work the velocolours does is phenomenal. The fact that Mark (Condorino), who appears to be very detail oriented, worked with him to get the match says a lot. This is the route I will go if I decide to do a professional repaint. I have a tendency to think a bike is a "forever" bike when I first get it, then I find a replacement. So I'm looking to "get it close", get all the components correct, ride it for a while, then decide if I want to drop that much money into it.
