@cb400bill, every time I see that photo of Andy Hampsten climbing in the snow I think of the autographed one I see at TiCycles every time I use their restroom. With a nice note from Andy. Never met him but he strikes me as one of the class acts in cycling. All I've talked to who've worked with him speak well of it. I have some connections in Italy and I understand Italy embraced him after that ride as a favorite son (after they got over him beating an Italian), not just because he rode one of the all-time great "hard man" rides but because of how he embraced Italy, honored it and its traditions, learned Italian and brought tours to Italy for years after his racing days.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes.
I've got a Grandkid with a 7-11 birthday. I'd like to find him an appropriate bike to go with his birthday. I don't think the c&v market has crashed enough yet for that.

Andy Hampsten reminds me of Peugeot Team's Robert Millar.
They seem to have similar physiques with Andy maybe taller....

Andy is a genuinely nice guy. I have talked to him a few times and he's always been pleasant and never seems to be in a rush to get away. The last time that I talked to him was at the last Eroica CA in Paso Robles, while we were talking his friends decided it was time to leave. As Andy got up, he picked his beer ticket off of the table and asked "Do you want this?".
I took this pic at NAHBS Denver. RIP Max Kullaway (in the red cap).
