Cortina Competition Pro
I just bought this 1972 Cortina Competition Pro. Now trying to find its pedigree. If there is anyone with that knowledge. It’s been stripped and repainted but does have Campagnolo dropouts, assuming Columbus SL tubes. It was updated with a SACHS HURET JUBILEE drillium derailleur. Read Mel Pinto was importing these and branding them Cortina.

1972 Cortina Competition Pro

Sachs Huret Jubilee Drilium, Campagnolo hubs, tubular rims unknown

Suntour Superbe Pro front derailleur, crank and brake set

yes, you are on the right track there with Mel Pinto (MPI) of Falls Church Virginia
the company had a number of products bearing the Cortina marque
these included rollers and racks for carrying cycles on motor vehicles
have one road frame hanging in me racks bearing the marque
it appears to be a sort of midliner model with forged ends and plain gauge tubeset
looks as though it may have been produced by Garlatti to judge by some of the details
do not wish to suggest your frame produced by that firm; might be a possibility...
Mel Pinto sourced his house branded products from a variety of producers

Cortina “Marque”
You mentioned having a frame bearing the “Cortina marque”
Can you post a pic of it?

have none
am at present ~700km removed from me "velo junque"
took it in as a bare frameset so cannot comment upon kitting
GIPIEMME forged ends w/adjusters
rear brake cable routed under top tube
chromed semi-sloping crown
appears to have been similar in concept to the Legnano Gran Premio model
tubing is plain gauge, no tubing transfer, guessing something such as Falck or Aelle
if memory serves, pillar size be 26.4
in original livery, a silver-grey colour
would guess an early to mid seventies datum
