Guide to Campangolo 109 speed groups.

OK OK OK! I intended to focus on 10 speeds. Not something with 8 speed HGI + cogs. Since I can't change the title..
Can you give me a beak or do I need to start a new thread?

I have looked and could not find a good timeline of the subject groups. It may well be in everyone's mind and experience but that is a time frame that I missed or ignored.

I have questions like:
  • When did Super Record (from 1983) term disappear?
  • hat is Record Titanium or is it just Titanium?
  • I have Titanium calipers but were their other Titanium parts?
  • when did Super Record come back, was it with 11 Speed?"
  • Was C-Record just another term for Record or was there a Record at the same time?
There are guides to Campagnolo group sets from 11 speed forward and 1983 groups back to the original quick release. Where is the info between?

Bikes: (2) ti TiCycles, 2007 w/ triple and 2011 fixed, 1979 Peter Mooney, ~1983 Trek 420 now fixed and ~1973 Raleigh Carlton Competition gravel grinder

Dang! Missed out again. Those 109 cog cassettes would be so sweet! I could just skip the 10s, 11s, 12s, 13s ... (What's the OLD on those?)

Doing this from memory, no sources provided!

The 109 speed RD is notable for its 8 wheel pulley.

Last year Super Record was 1986 (maybe ‘87). The last year SR had the non fluted crank arm. Corsa Record (C-Record) overlapped SR by one year and from that point the hierarchy was C-Record, Victory, Triomphe for a couple years. Super Record came back in 2009 with 11 speed, the first year it had white labels on the RD, crank etc, so that’s the significance whenyou hear “white label Super Record”. The “titanium” designation for the most part AFAIK really just signified small bits like fixing bolts, etc. The Record Titanium brakes are still mostly aluminum I’m pretty sure.

@Spaghetti Legs - Thanks! That helped.
I don't recall seeing any Record Titanium anything except the calipers. Since the 2nd gen Ergos are relabeled levers and interchange with various bodies, they are not reliable indicators.

2 cats asking and demanding attention while typing after being gone for 2.5 weeks makes typing a challenge.

If you haven’t spent much time there, the Campy puts a lot of their 9 and 10 speed catalogues on their site if you’re trying to traack down a certain part.

https://www.campagnolo.com/us-en/sup...t/support.html

Catalogues are in the drop-down menu.
