110 BCD Crankset in Silver/Chrome

Any recommendations on a nice looking 110 BCD Crankset in Silver or chrome? Or any other low-BCD-crankset that will allow smaller chainrings for that matter.

I've seen the White Industries models but they are just too darn expensive for my taste.

Cheers

Almost any 80's Deore triple with a 5 bolt pattern. They are 110/74 BCD and can be used as a compact double with a relatively narrow 110-1155mm square taper bottom bracket.
Chainrings are plentiful and inexpensive. Arms are fairly attractive with the clear anodizing, but they can also be stripped and polished.
Example:

Sugino also makes some lovely triples that can be used as a double, as well as the TD series that has 110 BCD. Example:

During the '80s SR and Sugino also made quite a few that are now available used for cheap - including dedicated doubles. Strip and polish if you want them to look new.

Sugion and Stronglight make nice compacts today like the Impel or RD2.

From: An Island on the Coast of GA!

Bikes: Snazzy* Schwinns, Classy Cannondales & a Super Pro Aero Lotus (* Ed.)

Velo Orange sells their own cranksets that are classy looking.

Rivendell Bikes also offers cranksets that fit the spec's you are after.

Of course, when bought new they are not inexpensive, but it does give you something to look for used on ebay.

As others have noted, lots of possibilities in the vintage world (and I assume that's what you're looking for given that you posted this in C&V). One of my favorites is the Sugino AT:

You can run it as a triple or as a compact double.

Looks great! Would that crankset work to use as single speed also?

Next to Shimano Deore there is also the Shimano FC-B124, also 110/74 bcd.

Yes, although you will need shorter chainring bolts to run a single chainring. Alternatively you can replace the outer chainring with a chainguard.

I have an FC M900, XTR that fits the bill. Took me a while to find a bb that gave me the correct chainline for road application.

Sugino made a lot of models in this form factor, generally easy on the eyes, but one "feature" that bugs me is the fact that they used the same blank to make 170 mm and longer arms, and just drilled the pedal hole higher for the shorter lengths. If you use 175 length, or don't mind the look, then not a problem. They're generally a great value, though, because so plentiful.
