PSA Gitane TDF fork on eBay

Can’t remember who but a forum member was looking for a TDF fork. It isn’t mine, I don’t know seller, and I can not vouch for it in any way.

FWIW, many years ago I acquired a '70s TDF that came with a replacement Tange chrome fork. That fork was fine but I wanted to see if I could make it more 'proper' so inquired at a local SF shop that was a Gitane dealer about ordering a genuine TDF fork.
Back in the early '80s they quoted me $135.
So this one for $65 (in 2025 dollars) is a genuine bargain!

Wow neat story. Did quick search and $135 in 1982 would be over $400 today. I did a search “Gitane fork” in forums and it was Force that was looking for fork for 60cm frame. I sent a pm to Force but no reply yet.

Sounds about right! I recall thinking it was more than I had invested in the entire bike at that time, so didn't pursue a "proper" Gitane fork for this bike. It did just fine with that Tange replacement for many miles and years.
