Soliciting input on repro decals

Most of you know I've been making some repros of unavailable decals -- mainly old Raleigh and Reynolds stuff at this point. In the interest of getting ahead of the curve a little, I'd like to get some input from you guys about what other decals I should look into creating the artwork for. Any and all suggestions much appreciated.

Bikes: 1987 Trek 1500, 1989 Pinarello Montello, 1998 Trek 7000 MTB

I want some late 80's Pinarello's. White ones for a blue Montello to be exact!

You can buy some NOS or repro stuff here:
https://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...YDS/decals.htm

I used this stuff here and printed them up on my computer to do a custom paint job:
https://www.paper-paper.com/super1.html

The only problem with printing them yourself is that you can't print white, silver, or gold without a very special printer. But otherwise, it works really well. Here's one I did:

Just a quick question on the cost of running a few custom decals if you were into taking the job. Thinking of doing a repaint of my frame this spring and was thinking of doing custom decals. I could probably get the artwork done from friends if I knew what format the files needed to be in or talk with you about what I wanted done if it was best to let you do the art work.

Ahhh yes.... I could use some for a '71 Rickert... I have another Rickert they could be copied from. I'd be happy to send pictures and measurements... Just curious; are you using an ALPS printer for 'em?

I'll second these too... I have an '79ish Benotto (Italian? Mexican?) that's needing a set, and I think full sets for the Windsor Professional would be great as well... I can provide pics & measurements for the Windsor Pro.

Bikes: Real Steel. Really. Ti is cool, too !

Lemond decals. Lots of great older steel Lemonds out there now ready for painting and restoration but Lemond does not have any decals older than 2 years old. The Lemond and Trek decal market should be pretty strong.

Wow, Nicely done!

I really need to redo my Colnago Super, and it's possible there might be an online source for readymades, but I'd love to try my hand at it. Problem would be that Super I have has the White Background Panel for the Logo type on both the Seattube and the downtube - like you say, white is a problem. Wonder if I can find a decal material with a white substrate???
The head tube badge should be relatively easy - just gotta get the colors right.
This DIY stuff has really come a long way.

Nice idea! What design software are you using?
For white, can you not get the white decal paper and print the white parts as 'transparent'?

Chris is correct; the concept is simple but the execution can be a bugger. I've been a graphic artist for 25 years and I have plenty of experience cobbling things together with what's on hand, but there are some things you may as well forget about, and making anything but the most rudimentary decals on your inkjet is one of them.

I checked eBay this evening, and I could get an ALPS 5000 for $500 or less. Since it appears I'm going to be making a bunch of decals I think I may as well invest in one; it'll do 90% of what I send out to be printed, and I'll have a lot more control over costs and delivery times.

So c'mon fellas -- order a bunch of pricey decals from me so I can buy that printer!

How many sets you planning on doing to get the printer? "Pricey" isn't a good word to use for your add. P.R. !!
But I would like to be able to get decals made that no one has---so ---what's the password or sign to get the process started?Would we send you a pic for an estimate?Am I getting ahead of where your at in the process?---sam

Bikes: Crap. The box is not big enough...

When you get set up - I have some drawings scaled for you to print. I can provide the paper as well. Lemme know.

Also would like to have just the Competition script from the top tube of a late 70's Raleigh. Don't you have these already?
