I did my metal abuse stuff then powdercoated this 25" Competition GS. The fork was crusty and pitted, so, yeah, that's not original...either. Tambien, no hablo Campagnolo; GS significa Grand Shimano. 😜 😜

Extra Fine Sharpie paint pen and isopropyl alcohol to clean off the whoopsies.

I was just looking today for something like those Crust rims. How do you like them? They seem a bit large for the tires, make your tires look like a hotrod Celica in the 90's

I like these rim's weight (430 gr), looks, ease of tire install and label. 30mm GP5Ks now, 32s are too close to the chainstay bridge when installing the wheel.
I won't know more until we re-enter the interglacial period.

This looks great... Like, really great in all regards! It makes me reflect more on the same questions I've been asking myself lately about what bikes to keep, what to sell... What might I actually still want to buy?
Your excellent and tastefully updated Competition G.S. makes me come back to the salient point that I really need to stop buying expensive @*#% and just put together a sensible, classy bicycle like what you've got here! I'd probably enjoy it more than all of my other bikes combined but I just haven't let go of my ego yet.
Thanks for sharing!

Very nice build.
Did you do the metalwork yourself?
I really like how the powder coat looks like the old original enamel, in terms of thickness and sheen; pray tell, where did you get that done (since I live in your vicinity)?
Did you build the wheels?
What does the C&V world think of eyelet-less rims, such as these Crust ones, Velocity A23, etc.
Will Mavic sue Crust over the decal design?
Finally, someone explain the "despacio" and "cabron" in the Crust rim decal. Does this mean "slowly, dude" (an homage to Grant Petersen?) or something else?

But the "Despacio Cabrón" is a nice touch.
I would have a hard time shelling down the money for the Crust rims because of the lack of eyelets. I wouldn't scorn a non-eyeletted rim if it were cheap, but for the price of these I'd rather languish in the Pacenti Brevet wait-list for another year.

It's modeled on the old Mavic logo

ooo, those are nice. 4mm narrower too. $120 for a bit of extrusion run through the bender, though

Not secret. Situational. It's "dude" at best. At worst it's very rude. "Slow down, jackass" would be in the middle

One more cool kludge; 10 speed DT shifters, a la rccardr's recipe: bar end DA shifter pods in 6208 lever bodies (Cerakoted black in a previous build).
