Kind of C&V Music-related

My wife and I went to see the band Kraftwerk in Charlotte, NC on Monday. C&V because they've been around since the 70s and they played a lot of vintage TDF video behind them during their performing "Tour de France". Here is a still shot.

Bikes: 1967 Paramount; 1982-ish Ron Cooper; 1978 Eisentraut "A"; two mid-1960s Cinelli Speciale Corsas; and others in various stages of non-rideability.

But are they fahren auf der autobahn?

Since Autobahn came out in the mid-1970's, it's been about 80% Kraftwerk and 20% other for my listening. I still have the tricolor short-sleeve cycling jersey that I bought from the hilariously minimal Kraftwerk website about 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the first version of the jersey lacked pockets, and I guessed wrong on the size: it's medium, I need small. Too bad---it's well made.

When my Mother in law died (car accident), there was a lot of dark humor going on. For the visitation/service they asked 'are there special songs that your Mom loved' so they can play them over the picture montages or during the service. My brother in law wanted to bring in an unmarked CD- and say 'this was the song that gave her the love of life, the song that lifted her soul and meant all the world to her' maybe have a break in the service- and then have this mystery song be "Pocket Calculator."

God, that would have been epic.

We are totally doing that for his funeral.

Not only that, in some circles they're considered the most influential band since the Beatles. As one music/culture critic says early on in this 2013 Kraftwerk documentary.

(The thumbnail photo is from the Trans-Europe Express album, from 1977. Subtle humorists, those Germans.)

Bikes: 80s Alan Super Record, 79' Somec Special, 90s Rossin(?) Columbus Ego Triathlon, previously: Bianchi SBX Reparto Corse (stolen) and so on...

In 2017, the TdF started from Düsseldorf and the day ended in an open venue Kraftwerk concert next to a park so we went there and sat all evening just outside the wall.
On Monday a colleague showed off how cool the concert was for a cartload of money, but I aas really happy also outside.

As a kid my uncle gave me the above TEE vinyl from his collection as I really liked the song.
And as a Hungarian im obliged fo mention the inspiration for the artwork (I admit I accidentally found out only a few months ago):

Hungarian Post stamp from 55
