NASHBAR 5000R "mini" build.
Picked up this NASHBAR last Fall for the RSX group and then stuffed it in the shed. I had purchased a Raleigh 26" hybrid frameset to build a "mini" gravel bike using a nice but rather odd set of 26" wheels. A Shimano Deore XT front hub and a Shimano Ultegra rear hub laced to a set of narrow Aray rims with stainless spokes. The rims were too narrow for a decent width MTB tire but I mounted a set of NOS NASHBAR 1.5" Streetwise slicks on them and it was a perfect fit. The plan was to use them on the Raleigh but when I installed them they looked absolutely tiny and out of proportion and it was apparent that the "hybrid" was basically a MTB frame with caliper brakes with room for some big tires. So that's how its getting built with some wide tires, that's my "3/4 Gravel Bike" thread you may have seen.
Back to the wheels. They went back into storage until this morning when I finally pulled the NASHBAR out to begin stripping it. I had been trying to come up with a use for the frameset but nothing I had come up with really excited me that much.It had mismatched 700c wheels and the front had a lot of corrosion and I didn't really have any spare 700's, I had tried the 650B set in it but even the 650B X 1.5 tires were way too wide. I started looking at it and then at the wheels when the little light bulb came on. I suspected the 26 X 1.5's might have a chance of fitting so I swapped the mismatched 700c's for the 26's and it not only worked they looked right. I then test fit my Tektro 559 calipers and they were a match. The plan is to build it with the 26 wheelset and a 155mm crankset with the drivetrain TBD by what I can find in the parts stash. The RSX is going on a different bike. I'll take a pic later with the 26 inch wheels, it will make a great bike for a child or small adult. Unfortunately it needs paint but I have some 2001 GM Toreador Red (maroon) Metallic that I think would look nice on it.
As found, mock up pics to follow.....

Initial mockup. Front tire is VERY close to the inside of the fork legs and just grazes it in one spot on the tire. I'm going to true the wheel in place to see if I can get it dead center. If not I may have to search for smaller tires.
How about a flat bar with a 1X9? I'd have to do an axle and freehub swap but I have the parts.
UPDATE: Kenda Kwest Mocha sidewall 26 X 1.25's and matching tubes on the way.
