Marin Mount Vision Ovation?

Up for bids on a local auction. What can the collective tell me about this bike. Looks to be full XT equipped and well kept.

Can anyone decode the serial number to find out what size frame? Curious about the size since it does have a stem riser added on to raise handlebars.

Seriel number is C229GAC020

Bikes: I haven't counted lately

That is a 1999 model year, looks to be about a 17.5"

I've been trying to find out......Does anyone know if these were actually Made in the USA or just Designed in the USA.
I do like the odd frame bikes and this one kinda ticks the boxes a bit.

I am not sure those were made in the USA otherwise you would have an american flag and proudly made in the USA written under it. GT on their high end models, Trek, Cannondale, Voodoo and Klein did made their frames in the USA and so did Univega with the Boralyn and Specialized with the M2 and M4 alumnium frames. Kona was using Easton alloy on their high end frames made in the USA. Giant, Merida, KHS, Moongoose, MBK and Schwinn made their frames in Taiwan.

Yeah...From what I've found the USA decal, like this example, has "Designed in" across the top and the frames were made in Taiwan. Trying to limit the bike purchases, gonna have to sell to buy due to space limitations.
I guess if it goes cheap.....We'll see what happens with the auction
