Mudguards and Vertical Brake Post

I'm making progress on the PL-8 I mentioned in the On the Road Again thread - On the Road Again

Intention is to use it as an Audax bike, so I've bought a pair of mudguards. I'm not sure on the best way to fix them though, with the vertical brake post. Initial thought is an L shaped bracket, attaching to the existing bracket on the mudguard then to the bolt on the top of the brake bridge.

It's not an especially elegant solution though - has anyone any better ideas, or experience? Photos if possible would be appreciated.

Bikes: Waterford Paramount Touring, Raleigh Sports 3-speeds in M23 & L23, Schwinn Cimarron oddball build, Marin Palisades Trail dropbar conversion, Nishiki Cresta GT, Jeunet mixte

That appears to be the first thing to try and will probably work.

Bikes: I haven't counted lately

How about an m6 coupling nut, used like a Drama bolt straight though the fender eliminating the bracket altogether.

Aren't those brakes and bridges intended for use with a fender, that just has a hole in it (no bracket at all)? The nut that secures the brake underneath should also be able to tighten on the underside of the fender. Apologies if that plan has some flaw I'm not seeing. A pic of the bottom side of the bridge and brake might help.

Exactly what I was thinking, I wonder if they have SKS or some other plastic fender that has an L bracket permanently affixed to it? Because any aluminum fender would be easy peasey here.

I also agree. This is exactly how they were designed.

Don't need an L bracket -- a hole in the fender is all that is required.
