Diamond in the rough.
This is how I like to find them, cheap and dirty. It was posted a few days ago for $40 and I didn’t get home from Florida till today. 3 hour round trip drive and just got home with it. Mismatched rims, but the frame and fork looks to be in excellent condition. I don’t mind spending a couple hundred to fix it up since it’s so cheap. Definitely a keep and rider. Tomorrow morning I’ll see how 700’s fit with the brakes, other than that barcons, Brooks and Panaracer Paselas are the plan.
First pic is the sellers pic, I didn’t feel like I was taking to much of a risk without seeing more pics.

Nice find. Those make lovely randonneurs.

Yeah, really nice. What's that bit of hardware where the "brake bridge" is? Is it some reflector mount?

That thing is sweet. I love getting diamonds in the rough. I just picked up '00 Lemond Buenos Aries with bad paint and about 20 years of basement gunk on it for about the same price as yours.
Finger's crossed that 700's fit. Although I think you can still get pasella's in 27" online.

I think, I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. I was too tired to mess with it once I got it home. I did remove the kickstand and was relieved to see it wasn’t torqued down, so no scratches or dents.

I don’t mind 27” wheels but these are mismatched and I hate that. I have a spare set of 700’s that I just built.

Turning out better than I hoped. Everything is in great condition, this was definitely a low miles bike.

Completely agree. I can't stand mismatched wheels either. I also assume that there was some sort of impact that damaged the non-stock wheel or worse. Personally, I usually walk away from bikes with mismatched wheelsets unless there's a part I really want or it's cheap enough to not feel too bad writing the bike off.

I recently converted my Univega Gran Turismo from 27" to 700c wheels. The back was not working very well until I shifted the wheel all the way back in the dropouts. The upward slant/angle of the horizontal dropouts brought the wheel up enough to make it work.
I wish I could find a sweet frame like that, though a 54cm for like 10x that price. I've been looking for an '84 or later Trek 620 or a Miyata 610, or a Trek 610 even for a while.
