I tried, but the problem is I just don't know how to play or get have weird view of connections

You're choosing four groups of four. The NYT Connections provides hints that show you one term in each group. Usually, the yellow group is easiest, and purple, the most difficult. I'll provide one word for each group below:

I don't get it. How are these four words connected?

If you need a hint for the puzzle's solution, open the spoiler to see one word in each of the four colored groups. Now that you have one hint, you're looking for the other three words that are connected to it. Usually, the yellow category is easiest, purple the most difficult.

Being able to move the tiles is a big help for me, first one I solved, still took way too many tries.

My mind just does not work this way. I'm pitiful at it.

Agreed, I know the words, not so much their "connections" I solved one puzzle, but that must have been a fluke, not even getting started on the last two. Even with a little google search cheating!

That was my best yet, got it out in seven.

Well, I suck at the NYT version and the C&V as well.

Yes it was. 6 guesses for me and only the second one I solved. Funny/Interesting to me is I felt like I was less familiar with these "words" but did better with their connections? Maybe less red herring effect that way?
