Bikes: Cuevas & Cimmaron are my full time riders, small MB-3 and large Competition GS are my sometimers

Locking Thumb Shifter?

Anyone know who made these? or what the purpose of a locking shifter is?

Bikes: Trek 800 x 2, Schwinn Heavy Duti, Schwinn Traveler, Schwinn Le Tour Luxe, Schwinn Continental, Cannondale M400 and Lambert, Schwinn Super Sport

Perhaps this is not intended for bicycles since handle bars for many things are close to the same size. But even with broadening the thinking, I'm still at a loss.

Perhaps to set the throttle on a small boat or machine?

Its for a Mountain bike suspension fork, locks out the fork from the handlebars.
