Some times lucky

Took me about a week to find this, but I did. In stock at a local LBS, even though they had to dig a bit to find it.

It's double-ended, and the manufacturer's description includes Huret/Simplex.

Just a few notes when doing something like this- take a screen grab of what's listed on the LBS site. It will make things a LOT easier. I took that lever with me to simplify explanation of what I was looking for as well.

Just like that, yes. According to the LBS manager who got involved in the transaction, Jagwire is still manufacturing these. Stocking of it by individual stores is a very so/so situation locally. Getting them in future may require an internet order and wait.

Bikes: 1964(?) Frejus Tour de France, 1967(?) Dawes Double Blue, 1979 Trek 710, 1982 Claud Butler Dalesman, 1983 Schwinn Paramount Elite, 1984 Miyata 1000, 2014 Brompton, maybe a couple more

I have had pretty good luck filing the modern cable ends flat for use with Simplex/Schwinn shifters. They don't have to be a perfect circular coin shape, just flat enough to go in the space.

I've found that squashing a barrel end in a vise is often sufficient to fit those Schwinn stem shifters.
