Here's another compliment -- got my Record decals yesterday. They look great!!! I can't wait to start refinishing the bike!

Cheers!

And I'm very much looking forward to working with you on the custom decals I've got in mind. It was a bit too late last night for me to start working on getting the example setup but I hope to have it over to you in the next day or so. Grad school is so getting in the way of my desire to get my frame painted. lol.

And another compliment from me. Got my French Reynolds 531 decals yesterday. They look great! I'll be contacting you shortly about some other decals I would like to get made. Not sure if it's feasible, but I'll run the idea past you anyway.
Thanks again Mike!

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

Hey everyone, we need to get more of our friends interested in vintage bicycles, and refer them to Mike for their decal needs. That would be better than defacing peoples' bikes to drum up business.

Mike, have you seen this page?

https://members.aol.com/satorumas/decal/decal.html

Hey; some early Martano & Fiamme rim decals would be nice...

No sir. I could use a NOS set of Martano rims in 36H though...

There were 36 hole martanos laced with high-flange NR hubs - my Masi was crying for 'em; however, they went beyond anything reasonable and ended up in the neighborhood of $400. The Masi will have to do with Mavic rims for a while more...

That is an excellent page! Great find!

I sure could use a couple of those Super Champion Type A decals.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

luker,

Fiamme Red label was also period correct, and I believe going to
be a whole lot cheaper than Martano rims.

They're period correct, but not really correct for the early CA Masi that came with Martano. Still, the Fiamme is probably a better choice for a bike you're not showing.

I think when Masi used up all of their Martano stock, then they may have gone to Nisi or Fiamme. Right now, my Masi has "period correct", but totally incorrect Super Champion 27" clinchers...

Funny; I think that Mr. Satoru bought this frame from me just to reproduce the decals...

https://www.duane.kennard.com/gem/index.html

Sold it about 3 years ago on eBay. I picked it up for a couple of parts, but mainly the crank spindle! I'll be using that spindle with some late '40s hollow Duprat cranks, to go on an early '50s Hetchins. The Geminiani is actually from the '60s, and had later, solid Duprat cranks.

anything cali masi is stratospheric. While I'm thinking about it, anything early masi at all is stratospheric. This masi has lovely correct campy high flange hubs laced to, um, G40's. Oh, well. They're very nice wheels. And that is a way cool reference web site. And you've gotta post some pictures of that Hetchins.

Frame's a '53 "Experto Crede Straight Stay". According to Hetchins sales records though, it wasn't first sold 'till '64...
Don't know the story behind that, but it gives me more build options Could have been a display sample at the shop, or just too plain with the straight (pencil!) stays, so it sat in stock... The "curly" was always more popular. The frame came to me previously repainted a funky light purple and with incorrect decals, so it went to B. Baylis for something more conservative. These decals aren't quite correct for the vintage either (right style, wrong color on downtube - the white was actually '70s), but it looks great anyway. I'll get it built one of these days...
The only pics I have handy:

Mine is a '57 experto crede curly stay. it is packed and ready to go to jack for paint, when I get the money and he gets the time - the original owner said flamboyant red, Jack says $65 more for flamboyant. that doesn't sound too steep (I think flamboyant is transparent red over gold?). Bringing us back to thread topic - do you have a desire to do Hetchins transfers, Mike?
