Atala

My father acquired an Italian Atala for next to nothing a few years back. He is curious as to what year the thing is and what the value might be. Below is the information he sent me.

Frame size: 21"
Frame material: Columbus tubing
Serial number: 72A1003
Derailleurs: Campagnolo"Grand Turismo"
Gearing: (13 - 36) (36 - 54)
Wheel Axles: Campagnolo
Crank: Stronglite
Brakes: Weinmann 610
Colour: Red & White
Condition: Superb

Thanks for any information.

Value-unknown but I do not think much. Age- sounds like late 1960's to very early 1970's.

Of no help at all except maybe to confirm above(jacksbike)post in regards
to what decade they might be from, My sister and I had Atalas we bought
from the high dollar, boutique ski shop in Pittsburgh, 1971. Cant remember
anything about them though because somebody stole them from us soon after
we bought them . I think early 70's would be a good guess.

Bikes don't have face value, so all people can give are opinions. Personally, if I were looking for another bike, I'd be willing to pay $200.00 - $250.00 if it isn't seamed tubing, and the condition is as nice as you're saying.

It sounds like an early or mid 1970s Model 101, also known as the Competizone. A very nice bicycle, 2nd from the top of the line.
