Has anyone heard od a bike called a DC Douglas?

I have a bike I picked up at a flea market a few years ago... it is a DC Douglas 7000. Never heard of it before... the frame is Columbus MATRIX tubing. It has Shamano 600 crank, brakes, stem, pedals... and Suntour 7000 durailers. It has Durace hubs and 6-spd cassette and the rims are Matrix. Great components and the bike has racing geometry. Rides like a dream. I suspect it is mid 80's vintage.

Saw one this summer!

Funny thing, I saw one this summer way up here in Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada.
A fella was trying to sell it for about $100.00. I tried to get some background on it
but was only able to see that it was japanese/taiwanese in origin.

Looked cool but I wasn't keen to drop that much. I could have been mistaken though.

Oh...just did a Forum search and found an interesting comment by T-Mar

"The McDonnell Douglas corporation manufactured aircraft in Toronto and may be the originator of a special production run for employees or customers such as Air Canada. Miele was also located in the greater Toronto region."

Could be a Meile in disguise! Sweet...if it was. I have two Miele's and they are fantastic.
Cheers

I saw that same bicycle, also. The bike is entry level, at best, about a 58cm and in decent shape. I know where the bike is and I can probably get it for half of what the seller is asking, in case anyone is interested. Personally, I would, and did, pass.

I worked for McDonnell Douglas in the 1980s. McDonnell was the fighter jet company in St Louis and Douglas Aircraft was the commercial jet company in Long Beach, CA. The merged during the VietNam War era.

The Douglas Aircraft designation for commercial jets was "DC", as in DC-3, DC-9, DC-10, etc.

So DC Douglas immediately rang "McDonnell Douglas" in my ears. Curious thing... Phil G.
