attempting my first build
i'm looking for a good online or print resource that can basically help me learn to do my own maintenance. myself and two friends are beginning the process of building fixed gears (just because we figured that would be the easiest start) in order to learn the ins and outs and to have reason to start purchasing the necessary tools. something with photos would be nice, as we're working with a pretty broad range of models and eras and are not familiar with all of them (we're currently stripping a bunch of frames for parts, and have already had some bumps in the road... like really stubborn old headsets).
any help is appreciated.
thanks,
adam

sheldonbrown.com - lots of fixed/SS info along with a million other topics and repair info..
parktool.com - lots of bike repair info as well.
There was a thread started a few days ago about vintage bike links that would also be useful to look at. Searching the forums also does wonders for answering lots of questions. The Fixed Gear / Single Speed forum has a very long thread with pictures of many bikes turned into FG/SS that you can get ideas and such from. I'm tempted to SS my Schwinn Traveler this winter when the Barracuda Mk. I is built from many of the parts currently on the Schwinn.
