Miyata 1400A image
For all you Miyata fans out there: recently thawed from cryogenic suspension and brought back to life is this 54cm Miyata 1400A alumitech bicycle. (year-late 80's?) I suspect this was Miyata's answer to the Vitus 979- pressure glued 6000 series aluminum tubes and lugs. Alloy fork. Shimano 105SG 7-speed SIS group with hubs. Wolber Tx Profil semi-aero rims. Upgrades to get it back on the road included tubes, Conti ultra sport tires, an Italia gel saddle, and SPD pedals. Riding weight is 21.8 lbs. Repairs consisted of extensive lubing on most steel parts (chain) and cables that had rusted. Paint was touched up with some purple enamel but is in remarkable shape overall. Neon yellow and pink splashes conjure up images of the Miami Vice days when that sort of graphic style was in vogue.
The road is pleasantly dampened by the alloy frame with its traditional steel-sized tubes, yet it is stiff enough when climbing out of the saddle for my 155lbs. Quick steering geometry, yet can still be ridden hands off with confidence. A fine design that manages to balance comfort with race-like handling and an overall lightweight feel.

Wow, two new 1400a's introduced to the forum in one day! Amazing!
Agree with T-Mar, she is a 1990, and she is a beauty to. Very nice condition. I have a 54cm pearl white model with a full 105 group also. I agree with your ride assessment, she is light and nimble, yet a very comfortable rider due to the alloy fork and stays. It has an almost steel like ride IMHO.
I need to take some new pics of mine, but here she is -
