I just picked up a Centurion Omega. I am unsure where to look for the serial number. I checked inside the left chainstay, and underneath the BB, and have found nothing so far.

The bike has Suntour 7 front/rear derailleurs, and suntour "power shift" shifters. Also Dia Compe brakes. I have images of all the components here: https://crast.us/james/photos/albums/Misc/Centurion/

Crast, it looks to be very late 1970s to very early 1980s. Check the bottom of the seat tube, in the vicinity of the front derailleur. The seial numebr may be located there.

I just picked up a Centurion Super LeMans frame while dumpster diving. It is baby blue with chome lower portions of the fork and rear portions of the chain and seat stays. The serial number is on the seat tube toward the bottom and is N6225. The Suntour SL front derailleur is marked RG 4532. The RG would indicate a 7/75 date. The brake calipers are Weimann with date stamp of 8-74. The seat post is SR and has 7X.9 on it near the insertion minimum mark. The X is really either a 3 or a 5 but I can't be certain which. It is 26.0mm diameter as indicated on the post itself. Since the component dates are from different years it is hard to say but I am thinking model year 1976. Maybe the 6 in the serial number is a year place mark.

Hello, I recently bought a bike that was assumed to be a Centurion (it has been repainted, so all graphics/decals are gone.), but I'd like to find out what model it could be, and if it is a Centurion at all.

Specs:

SERIAL: "365" "473330" (under BB); "3669" (near RD, dropouts)

WHEELS: Araya 27 x 1 1/4 w/o
HUBS: NKN Nakano Made in Japan (ZE in front; ZC or ZO in rear)

Looks like a Centurion, but please help!

Yes, the other components would a suggest an older and lower level model, with the 600 SIS being a later addition. I don't recognize the serial number format. Pics may help.

FInally got the bike,
The serial # N6N7524
Ironman Purple and Yellow
Shamono hubs with Wobler rims
More to follow as I clean the grease off the parts.. a we bit greasyy..

The rear axle was very dry and dirty sound like sand in the cassete and the bearing was a we bit crunchy..I asked a local shop to clean it for me due to
the unique bearing bolts that were buried in the center of the hub. I could't reach the bolts with my CAr tools.I pulled the wheel and took it to the shop . any who he said thirty and then charged me more my guess is it needed a race or bearing. Ill get the wheel tomorrow and see how the bike rolls...
so It may have been a good idea to have him do the work. The chain after a good soaking was pretty rusty so I had him pull me a new one he reccomended a 6 speed chain???? More to follow I am sure




psps Would it be in bad taste to put a brooks seat on this bike my original is falling apart and my behind likes the B17... AS storm cloouds gather hey it is a Japanese bike right..

I've never seen that color in a Master model, but I guess it's possible. My dbase of the last 107 or so that were offered shows all those in that color to be Experts. I could be wrong, just haven't seen one.

By the time you clean it up, re-wrap, re-saddle, and get those hoods clean, it will be pretty, indeed. Don't let the colors fool you, it's a great bike for the price and will run w/the pack.

I watched that auction. I think there's 5 more out there for sale right now.

hi,
I tried some dishwashing soap on the hoods they seem alittle sticky like they are about to fall apart, is there a better cleaner.

that gold looking stuff on the bar says EXPERT..and I mounted the rear wheel and took a quick spin around the block before work, this sucker is very touchy (quick to repspond to light hand pressure0 and my new cateye COmputer says I wa pushing 24 with very little effort, that mountian bike must have helped me.build my motor.....HEHE
Tomorrow the Longer ride on the paved bike trail those delta clips are a bit tricky when your used to those egg beater style..

Try some Comet on the hoods. I use baby powder to get rid of the tackiness.

Mix a little Comet (or Softscrub with bleach), a little purple cleaner, and some water. Apply some Comet or Softscrub directly to the hood, swish a toothbrush in the mixture, and scrub away. Rinse well. Let dry in the sun if you can. The only white one's I've not been able to clean are Suntour, too gummy and they get these brown spots that are through and through. Not sure if its adrenalin or what we had some heavy winds 15-20 knot with gust, but I took her out, and tried to ride a little, the chain kept hopping, went back the LBS and said whats up they showed me how to measure a new chain on the bike lowest gear smallest ring and so on and how the derailer shoould look.
Went put on a new chain, they had crankbrother on sale so I bought pedals too, I feel at ease with them compaired to the look pedal its harder to hook up being they always seem to flip over when you unclip and you need to spin them over and push in. My foot sliped off a couple times and that scares me I almost dropped the bike. while pushing off, and with me learning to ride on the road I don't want to crash into a cage. With the crank brothers you can pedal a couple strokes before you need to worry about clippin. and they can clip on both sides or not it dosen't effect Any whooo the bike felt so good it seemed so much easier and faster. Geeze I 'll be going average of 18 the first day. versus 14 on the mountian.
Another thing I noticed is the pedals seem to be located in more powerful location to your leg versus the mountian that you have to practically stand on to pull off in the wind. adn the faster you pedal the easier it get's where the mountian seepms to have a very narrow power range and you run out of gears the faster you go if you jump up a chain ring its to large for me. and your cross chaining you can tell it feels a little tight..

Its felt like it was ridding on rails...Iam hooked on Roadie bikes for sure, and only spent a couple hundred before the mods.. hehe Now to build that motor for power and endurance, look out you roadies I 'll be back..

HI,
My chain is hopping alittle when I down shift it may be the gears, here's my question was the 86 ironman a free wheel or was it casette, my LBS says it will be almost impossiable to find that speed cassette, So I am hoping its a freewheel.

It make a great single speed for now, its a little tuff with a head wind in 6 gear..

T-Mar, thank you for the answer. But are you shure that my bike is a Centurion Pro? I´ve looked in the 1984s Centurion Catalogue and found the PRO TOUR bike dates. Therefore that bikes have a chain stay longer than 410 mm, like my bike. Its a 57 cm frame.

The Pro and Pro Tour are two entirely diferent beasts, the former being a racing model and the latter being a grand touring model with relaxed geometry, long wheelbase and cantilever brakes among other GT details. Yours is definitely the former.

I just bought a centurion with a serial number of:
N6P3153

I assume it's a 1986. It's been rebuilt by a guy in my neighborhood with Ultegra cranks, Maillot 500 hubs, Matix rims, and Shimano 600 derailers, shifters, and a Tange Seiki Levin headset. Any idea how to figure out which model it is? It does not have eyelets for fenders or a rack.
