Mid 80's Bianchi ID

Hi,

I have a Bianchi I bought in Germany in the mid 80's I'm trying to ID. It is the Bianchi Green color.

The serial number is 861481.

One sticker says "Made in Italy - by F.I.V.E."

Another sticker says "Tubi Bianchi - Calibrato 1-20"

The seat is a Sella Italia, derailleurs are Sachs-Huret. The brakes are, um, "Universal".

I would love any help ID'ing the model, and especially any history.

Thanks!

Chris

Posting a picture would definitely help. Knowing the models for the derailleurs and brakes would also be of great value. If you could also provide make and model info for the crankset, hubs and rims, that would help too.

Use of European, non-Campagnolo components would seem to indicate a mid-range model, which is consistant with the celeste color and Italian manufcture. However, the serial number is not consistent with those of other Italian manufactured Bianchi during the 1980s. This, in conjunction with the F.I.V.E, decal, would seem to indicate that the frame was built by an Italian subcontractor.

I have just bought a bare frame Bianchi (once in celeste) with a six figure serial number similar to yours in London. The only thing identifying it as a bianchi is the name stamped on the rear dropouts. The interesting thing is that the serial number is stamped on the stearer tube. I guess it is 1984-1985 because it has an Italian bottom bracket. Although it looks similar to several Bianchi's in Fixed Gear Gallery it's not identical to any of them. It has the top tube braze-ons and one for the rear gear cable otherwise nothing else. So it was once racer not tourer, but, its not that light and thus I dont believe it to be special in any way, but it is quite well made.
Looking forward to making it into a street sharp fixie.
Is your number on the stearer too? I haven't seen anybody mention this placement elsewhere.
