Early 40's rollfast!

Im sure most here wont find this all that neat, seeing that its not a "vintage" skinny tyred roadbike, But I finally got this today, (sunday) of all days. I bought it from someone in Toronto and I got a note saying he couldnt have it mailed to my house, so he shipped it via greyhound, so I phoned the bus terminal and alas, it was there!

I Believe its from somewhere between 1941-45 comparing it to photos of other ones I could find, I'll try to find out the exact year if I can, maybe someone at the oldroads message board could help with that.

The only problems it has is the seat post is stuck, and one of the nuts that threads onto the fork is stuck (Probably cross-threaded?) making the fork sit in the head tube a little loose. But what old bike doesnt have its problems? It doesnt "cramp my style" while riding it, so its no biggie.

Has a new departure coaster hub, with opening lube cap! (talk about luxury!)

It would be nice if I can find a chainguard that fits it (all my extra my ccm ones wont fit right), and a rear carrier rack would be cool too!

Here are a few pictures, I'll take some better ones someday, when its "just right" outside for "artness"!

The name alone puts it into the super cool category!

Fantastic! Love the double-top-tube ballooners. Hell to ride, but a joy to look at.

Contact Gordon Bradbury (PM me for his email) if you can't find the right guard for it. If he doesn't have it, no one does.

Nope no restore job.. Im not that kinda guy, I like character on my bikes! I just keep the important inside guts in tip-top shape.

Shes actually very easy to ride (surprised me somewhat), i've driven much harder to pedal/heavier bikes. Im gonna change the neck stem to one that doesnt go so far forward to make it a little more comfy to ride, other then that is great.

Gordon Bradbury.. name sounds familiar, does he sell old bikes and old bike stuff on eBay? I'll have to have a look, I dont mind if its not the specific one for it, whatever will fit, I already lost a pair of pants to the hungry sprocket and chain on a ride with it this evening... (forgot to tuck pants into sock)!

danb, I love it! The ultimate single speed. I have a pre-war, I think, Hiawatha 24 with 26 wheels and tires. It goes everywhere! Congratulations. Enjoy.

That is super-neat!!!!! Leave it as is - it looks great! It even has a "Gaulatto" reflector on the back.
